lifelong

lifelong – a life long – my life long

Life does not follow a linear path.

It is merely a collection of points.

A continuous sequence

of present moments.

In 2024, I began working on Lifelong. I explored the question of how I could visually represent lifetime – life as a continuous sequence of moments in the present.
This led me to the idea of representing each day as a coloured square.
For Lifelong, I divided a sheet of Japanese paper into 36,425 squares – visualising exactly 100 years on a single sheet of paper. Each coloured square symbolises a day in my life.

The coloured areas show the pattern of my life so far.
Since 1 January 2025, I have been filling another square with colour every day in real time.
Until the last day.

As of 22. April 2025
